Classic all original ?Sweet Sixteen? Ski boat. The boat was in running condition and last registered in TN 1992 as shown in the photos. I bought the boat after 5 years of indoor storage in 1997 from Patona Bay Boat Service on Lake Tippecanoe, Indiana.
The boat is in all original condition including: white vinyl foredeck upholstery, windshield, rear view mirror, steering wheel, foot pedal throttle, column mount gear shift, ski tow post, 5 red/white original kapok seat cushions, front and rear original upholstery bench seat backs, engine hood and vinyl, interior vinyl, flooring, gas tank, stern ladder, gas cap, and all original chrome deck hardware.
The transom is solid and not rotten around the edges which has been common to older Century boats. The hull is all original Mahogony planks with varnish, no epoxy or anything else but bottom paint. There are 4 planks on the hull running parallel to the stringers that are slightly warped and should be replaced.
The all-original Gray Marine 188 engine is a small block V8, thought to be an American Motors conversion from a Chevy 283. The Twin 2-barrel carbs still work. We fired her up back in 1998 in the service shop at Patona Bay and the engine sounded throaty and steady. In other words, it sounded great! After that, the engine was winterized and has fortunately been stored inside, out of the weather for 25 years in with the boat.
The package includes an older model Trail Master 2-wheel trailer, no brakes, with marginal tires. I would highly recommend another trailer or changing the wheel bearings and tires/wheels before using this trailer for highway travel with the boat. The bunks are adjustable and are inline with the dual stringers. The trailer is mainly for storage and is adequate for that purpose.
After years of deliberation and hesitation, I have decided to part ways with her and find a new owner willing to complete the restoration to running condition and the refinishing and hull work needed for running on inland waters again.
As a former and part time sales team member at Patona Bay, I will be your contact for calls, emails, questions, and showings by appointment only. The boat is in storage offsite, so I request serious inquiries only please.
