This beautiful boat is built by Andrew Berge from Silver Fern Creations in Michigan USA. Designed to follow the clients son around the yacht racing course without impacting on the race. It has low wash and very efficient hull characteristics. Designed to operate for long periods at slow speed but with the ability to race to the top mark at 20 knots when needed in all conditions as the yachts often race in rough seas.
What a stunningly beautiful build. The boat came in on weight and some of the detailing is stunning. Just so beautiful to look at. And so graceful operating on the water to match the look as can be seen in the videos below.
I incorporated into this design some new ideas for enabling the boat to operate efficiently at all speeds. The results can be seen in the video, particularly the one of the boat running so effortlessly at 13-15 knots. This is usually a very difficult range for a planing boat but as can be seen this boat is capable in displacement, semi-displacement and fully planing mode.
It will be good taking this new design into a 40-50 foot size boat. What a boat that would be. Even a smaller 30 foot boat would be sensational. Others say all boats are a compromise. This design shows it is not necessarily so.
